Morning Inspiration – YOU ARE A LIGHT BEARER!

As you step out today, here’s a reminder of God’s word to you from Matthew 5:14-16 [The Message & NIV]

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.

If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!

Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

The NIV Translation of verse 16 says:

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Today’s Bible verses again remind you and me as believers in Christ of our spiritual identity. Christ through this scripture reminds us that as believers, we have been called to be light bearers.

We have been enrolled in God’s army and each of us has been given the title ‘LIGHT BEARERS’ with the command to dispel darkness and display the beauty of God.

We have been placed here on earth to bring out the God-colors to a world filled with darkness and despair.

The good news is that this Light is Christ!

John 8:12 [NIV] says,

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

We have, therefore, been called as believers in Christ to help others come out of the darkness and to have the light of Life which is found only in Christ!

Think for a moment how the world would look like if there was no light – everything would be dead.

Light exposes darkness and everything in the secret.

Light reveals hidden things and brings clarity.

This is why the first thing God addressed during earth creation was light.

God said in Genesis 1:3-4 [NIV]

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.”

That is why today’s Bible verse is such a beautiful reminder to you and me that we have been chosen by God to shine his light and his light means good news about the Kingdom of God. It is the message of reconciliation and transformation.

This message of good news of God’s Kingdom means that people can experience God’s peace, joy, grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love while they are here on earth.

The good news of telling others that they can experience forgiveness of their sins and be saved from the grip of Satan.

That they can have a place in eternity if they believe Christ is the son of God, believe his blood washes them clean of their sins, confess him with their month as Lord and savior.

Being Light also means that we are Christ Representers and Christ Ambassadors and that everywhere we go, we must be intentional about being a positive influence on others.

We must be deliberate to add value to the people we meet whether in our workplace, schools, church, train, bus station, at the airport, on the place, during business meetings, during a class lectures, while in the park, etc.

Therefore, as you go about your daily business and activities today, don’t hide your light but rather let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven because Christ is counting on you for that every day!

Remember, always that YOU ARE A LIGHT BEARER!

Do have a blessed as fruitful day!

God bless you.
