OBEDIENCE AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE!

As you step out today, here’s a reminder of God’s word to you from John 14:21[TLB].

“The one who obeys me is the one who loves me; and because he loves me, my Father will love him; and I will too, and I will reveal myself to him.”

The Message Translation says,

“ The person who knows my commandments and keeps them, that’s who loves me. And the person who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and make myself plain to him.”

Obedience to God’s word is an expression of our Love for God! In a nutshell I believe this statement sums up today’s Bible verse.

Today’s key verse is a reminder to us as believers that when we say we love God, it means that we are committed and on a pursuit to obeying His word, commandments, instructions and his leading in every area of our lives on a daily basis even when it may seem not to be always convenient.

Jesus clearly states in this verse of the scripture that whoever loves him, He will make himself known to such person and the additional benefit is that such a person will also be loved by God, His Father and our Heavenly Father too!

Let’s just think about it for a moment  – Can you truly say you love someone so much, yet you refuse to do what pleases them, or makes them happy and you refuse to listen to do what they ask you to do.  And if that type of behaviour continues, it won’t be long before the other person gets frustrated because your love is just only based on words but with no corresponding action.

Therefore, as you go about your daily business and activities today, seek not just to know God’s word/ commandments but earnestly and intentionally desire to be a doer of God’s word i.e. strive daily to obey God’s word whether it is convenient or not.  Remember, Jesus gave up himself in exchange for our sins on the cross of Calvary, and by this He demonstrated his love to mankind by this act of sacrifice.

So, to show you love Jesus and thankful for his unconditional love for you, let obedience to God’s word also be your pursuit because in doing this, you delight the heart of your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and you can be confident knowing that He will reveal himself to you – what a privilege and an honor, hallelujah!

Remember, loving Jesus means we are eager to know and obey his commandments!

Do have a blessed and fruitful day!

God bless you.
